Name: Patsy Bryan
Family: I met my husband, Tommy Bryan, a lifelong resident of the Golden Isles at UGA, and was so fortunate to be able to move here after college. We raised our two children here, Thomas and Maggie. Maggie chose to move to Colorado after college; she is a pharmacist in Golden, Colo. Thomas and his wife, Claire, are raising their family here. He is a local dentist, and I am so blessed to be able to see my two granddaughters, Maret and Sarah, every day.
Years in the Golden Isles: 40 years
School: University of Georgia
Occupation: I am a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Hodnett Cooper Real Estate.
Favorite Landmark in the Golden Isles: The St. Simons Lighthouse. I absolutely love history and I read many of Eugenia Price’s historical novels during the first summer I moved here. I fell in love with the local landmarks that she wrote about, but the lighthouse has always been my favorite. All the history…it’s just so interesting. One of my favorite things to do is to sit under the lighthouse beam at night…while attending one of the music concerts … and I also like to take my morning walk around the lighthouse and casino area.
Who or what inspired you to a real estate professional in the Golden Isles? When I first moved here in 1980, I went to work for the Gilbert Harrell Law firm. I was on the attorney side of many closings and I enjoyed it. I had always worked in sales and I really enjoy working with people … and I made the transition to choosing real estate as a career after having children. It’s been a perfect fit; I can’t imagine having another career.
In your opinion, what do you think is a selling point for homes in the GoldenIsles? I think homes in the Golden Isles are so fortunate to have so many views to choose from, river, marsh, ocean, golf … are a few. And honestly, amazing outdoor spaces in general, especially in these times, are exactly what homes in the Golden Isles can offer people … pools, fire pits, porches, or a nicely landscaped and private back yard. Homes in the Golden Isles offer buyers so many unique selling points, but for me, the ability to enjoy our natural surroundings in our own home is paramount. Buyers really seem to want separate spaces, somewhere they can close a door, somewhere they can retreat to … and a lot of our local homes offer that just by the nature of where we live.
What is the best piece of advice you have received as a real estate professional? The best piece of advice I have received as a real estate professional is to be committed to your clients for a lifetime. Not just till you close the deal, but forever. I have been so fortunate to work with people who have become lifelong friends over the last 40 years in this business. I always want to work with someone who considers me a friend, someone who would refer me to their family, and to their friends. My commitment to my clients lasts long after a real estate transaction is done.
Favorite things to do in my free time: I love to read, play pickleball and walk with my friends, ride bikes with Tommy, and play with my grandchildren.
